TOPHName: Toph
Gender: Female Breed: Dachshund (mini) Adopted Sept 2013 Birthday (approx): Dec 22 2012 Toph Is my real dog. She came into the shelter (where I work), as a surrender due to her deafness and because she was already going blind at 10 months. Her disabilities were caused by her breeding (double merle). We were having trouble placing her with a rescue (none would take her), and she was going to be a handful for the general public (deaf-blind puppy who wasn't potty trained or anything). So I decided she was the perfect fit for me. She is the smallest animal in the house (out-weighed by the cats and thor easily), but is bossy and stubborn. When she wants to play, they WILL play...and by her rules! She is also incredibly lazy, refusing to finish walks on most days. Her deafness and near blindness do not seem to slow her down, though she has an extreme distrust of shadows. She loves stinky shoes, cat toys, and will stick her nose into anything without a seconds hesitation (including your mouth). She is loud and obnoxious when she wants something that she is not getting. Like attention, or being held, or back inside when it's snowing (because, you know, urinating can just wait until summer). |
